Hi.

Welcome to my blog! I hope you find a little light here!

Sun Room

Sun Room

Our sun room aka future jungalow is coming together. I can not wait to fill this room with plants but I wanted to go ahead and give you guys a peek at what we have been working on at the new house. We have done so much while only being able to order online… but I am excited to go shopping for decor once it is safe. HomeGoods… I’m looking at you, kid.

I am happy with what a splash of paint, a new fan and our own personal touch did to the space. I wanted it to be bright, colorful and bohemian. We used one of my beautiful pottery pieces made in the Mississippi delta by Peter’s Pottery and filled it with rocks we have collected on our travels. We also hung up our dreamcatcher from our honeymoon in Tulum. These are simple ways that can remind you of beautiful memories without covering every inch of your house in photos. I also brought in some of Jon’s design books and my photography books.

This massive rug was a steal! It was a bit brighter than I thought it was going to be, but I think it works really well for the vibe of the room. The two orange pillows look like cactus silk pillows but are actually a cheaper Target find. I have bought several pillows from Etsy which is where the two kilim pillows are from. I could buy kilim and cactus silk pillows all day. I may have a pillow shopping problem but it is such a fun and easy way to change up a room. My pillows have a tendency to hop around different rooms.

Okay… so who knew how much a fan could make such a difference in a space?! We found this one at Home Depot . I love how clean it is… AND it comes with a remote. It really helps when you are binge watching your shows during quarantine and don’t want to leave the couch.

We put Alba’s swing from Sweet Swinging in the corner so she can look outside in almost every direction. We chose the high back with the added pillow because she was still so little when they sent it to us. She loves it!

I wanted this room to be a little different than the rest of the house yet still feel like it belongs. A simple way to tie rooms together can be having a color that is added to each room. I chose to add elements of cane or rattan around this house. I feel like it softens up some of the harder lines and more modern elements. Its my bohemian flare to the midcentury vibe. I am on the search for a cane media console but for now we have an antique cane magazine holder we found at the Nashville Flea Market and these rattan coasters for this space.

Our sun room makes me happy and is a constant reminder to let the light in. Hope you all are staying well, friends.

P.S. Please do not judge Remy’s quarantine hair. She is sensitive about it. // More images below

Love + Light, Laurie
